Within the framework of the CTA Program for R&D Incentives, Biomixing aims to continue developing its proprietary technology to advance the design of new agitation and aeration systems that optimize the cultivation of organisms with specific requirements.
This technology is based on aeronautical and fluid dynamics principles and involves various geometries and combinations of agitation and aeration systems, including baffles. The combination of these elements provides the key to success.
This innovative agitation and aeration system enhances oxygen transfer and reduces mixing times through an improved and more homogeneous blending of nutrients, gases, and additives, thereby achieving an increase in both the quantity and quality of the final product.
The project would advance Biomixing’s R&D developments by focusing on the validation of a mixing and aeration system for a specific, highly industrially used culture — E. coli — which requires a high oxygen transfer rate.
As a key component of this project, Biomixing collaborates actively with research groups from University of Sevilla and University Pablo de Olavide.
