Advanced Agitation and Aeration System for Recombinant Protein Production

This R&D project focuses on the design, development, and validation of an innovative agitation and aeration system for bioprocesses involving microorganisms with high oxygen and nutrient demand.

The technology is based on aeronautical engineering principles and advanced fluid dynamics, enabling the exploration of novel geometries and optimized combinations of agitation and aeration components. The goal is to maximize oxygen transfer, ensure homogeneous mixing, and significantly reduce production times.

This advanced system is expected to increase both the yield and quality of the final product while delivering substantial energy savings. The technology will be applied to optimize an industrially relevant bioprocess: the production of recombinant GFP protein in Escherichia Coli using next-generation bioreactors.

The project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and builds upon previous R&D activities developed by the company.
