Advanced Agitation and Aeration System for Optimized Lentiviral Production

This industrial research project focuses on the design, development, and validation of an innovative agitation and aeration technology aimed at optimizing the propagation of suspension cell lines and the production of lentiviral vectors (LV) for advanced therapy applications.

The technology is based on aeronautical engineering principles and advanced fluid dynamics, exploring multiple geometries and optimized combinations of agitation systems, aeration components, and baffles. The integration of these elements is key to achieving high-performance bioprocess conditions.

The innovative agitation and aeration system is designed to reduce cellular damage and shorten mixing times by ensuring optimal mixing and a more homogeneous distribution of nutrients, gases, and additives. This results in increased yield and improved quality of the final product.

The project targets the development of an optimized system to enhance lentiviral vector productivity from suspension HEK293T cell cultures. In parallel, the lentiviral production protocol will be further optimized to fully leverage the performance improvements enabled by the advanced agitation and aeration technology.

This project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and represents an extension of previous international R&D initiatives developed by the company.
